Urimax (Tamsulosin) is part of a class of medications known as alpha blockers. It works by blocking alpha receptors in the prostate muscle, leading to relaxation of the prostate. This relaxation helps patients with enlarged prostate issues to urinate more easily and may also address other urinary complications associated with this condition. Additionally, Urimax has been used by some patients to assist in the elimination of kidney stones.
Before starting Urimax, it is essential to have a medical consultation with your doctor to assess the severity of your condition and determine the appropriate dosage. Typically, adults with benign prostatic hyperplasia are advised to take 0.4mg daily, with the tablet consumed half an hour after a meal. It is important to take the medication at the same time every day.
Possible side effects include: back pain, drowsiness, facial pain, dental issues, reduced sexual function, or irregular ejaculation.
Although serious side effects that necessitate immediate medical attention are rare, they can occur in a small percentage of patients. Reactions that require urgent care include a painful erection lasting for an extended period, fever, and fainting. Other side effects not mentioned here may also happen.
If you experience an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical assistance right away. Symptoms to be aware of include skin rashes, hives, facial or limb swelling, difficulty breathing, and trouble swallowing.
